Bat, Bunny, and Bike
Happy Memorial Day!
Today actually felt a little like summer. Overall the weekend's we
ather was pleasant. We had a nice thunderstorm last night, which was needed but the days were great for playing outside all day.
The weekend was lots of fun.
Here are a few highlights from the weekend:
We had Zack from Saturday-->Sunday while Milli/David celebrated their 5yr wedding anniversary in the City!
Sunday we had our friends John/Carrie over for dinner and a bonfire. It was the perfect night for one.
Monday we spent the day as a family and celebrated our friend Noah's 3rd Birthday at his BBQ/Party.
On Saturday AM Rudy found a dead bat in the middle of our backyard! ICK! We had Animal Control come out and get it so it could be tested for rabies. Thankfully Rudy found it before Aubrey, though I don't think she would have been trying to mess with it. She's getting pretty "girlie" about bugs and critters in general.
Tonight, Rudy discovered (because it's so warm) a dead bunny under our deck. It's pretty smelly and of course, out of reach! UGH!
Now he's trying to figure out how to get it.
This morning we took a nice long family bike ride on the prairie path near our house. It was quite windy and trying to tow 2 kids in a trailer that doubles as a parachute was quite impossible at times. Rudy had to come beside the trailer a few times and help push us up the steep hills. Benjamin snoozed almost the entire time! We love riding our bikes. Thankfully the kids enjoy being towed and with gas prices rising, it's going to be a common form of transportation for the summer.
On Saturday, we also finished getting the garden.
4 Tomatoes: 1 Jubilee (yellow) 1 Big Mama 1 Grape 1 Cherry
1 large double row of green beans which we'll continually replant and harvest through the summer
2 Peppers: 1 Ivory 1 Green
3 Basil plants
3 English Cucumbers (seedless)
1/2 row of Snow peas
Now the fun of waiting for everything to begin growing. Let Summer Begin!
Let summer begin for real! How can it drop 40 degrees overnight? Only in Chicago...
