1st Trip to the Dentist
Today was Aubrey's 1st Dentist appointment. We chose a pediatric dentist that was recommended by Rudy's manager. The appointment started well. The waiting room was great- SUPER kid friendly- an aquarium, wall unit that had a bunch of kids games, and bunches of other kids toys.
Rudy was actually able to meet us there which turned out to be a HUGE blessing. The technicians called us back to the room. It's an open-bay atmosphere which is really great, in theory. They put us in the far left bay. There was a child in the middle bay with his mom. He began to freak out which then caused Aubrey to get very nervous, or more nervous than she was. The technician, Judy, took Aubrey and I back to the waiting room so we weren't exposed to the break-down. Too late, Aubrey was already TOTALLY FREAKED.

We went back to the bay and tried to get Aubrey to sit through an exam. We tried by having her sit on my lap- No go. We then had her sit on Rudy's lap for the exam. It was nuts. You would have seriously thought she was having her teeth plucked out one, by one. We had to hold her down, which may have seemed brutal but at least we got her used to procedures of the dentist.
There were points of near hyperventilation. You would have thought this was what was happening.

They were able to get her full exam in and fluoride treatment. All-in-all it was a pretty rough experience. Good news, though, is that her teeth are great, a little close together which we know and may cause some problems in the future (good thing for Dental Insurance with Orthodontics!)
Now we only have 6 months to prepare for the next one.
