Gym & Swim
Today was Aubrey's 1st Gym & Swim class at the YMCA. It's a great class- 1 hr 35 minutes broken into 45 minutes of gym play and 45 minutes of swim play, with a 5 minute transition.
The gym was set up as an obstacle course which Aubrey enjoys. It's more fun for me to hear her try to say "Obstacle". Anyhow, she did well playing in there. I think that the students running it need to work harder to engage the kids in the gym portion. The class is for kids 3 yrs - 6yrs. Those are very different coordination levels. She had a good time though.
From the gym they take them to the pool- with a quick change in the locker room. (They need to come with their swimsuits on under their clothes.)
The swim portion is broken into 2 parts: 1- 20 minute lesson and 1- 20 minute play session. I sat on the side of the pool and watched that portion. Aubrey had a lot of fun.
When class was over and I went to get her she was very excited to tell me how much fun the obstacle course was and playing on the noodle. She said they learned how to turn their head in the water.
She was SUPER hungry by the time we got home. She was also a raisin from being in the water for so long which made her very happy!
Glad she enjoyed herself! I'm looking forward to taking the kids to the beach this summer!
